Essex Provincial Grand Lodge Annual Meeting - Update
Following the excellent demand from members to attend our Provincial Grand Lodge event at Chelmsford City Racecourse, we have now closed the dining application list. Our caterers needed final numbers and menu information today and we have no alternative but to take this action.
We do have a reserve list to which names can be added, in case of any cancellations that may occur.
There is still space in the temple for anyone who may wish to attend the morning or afternoon meeting. The post meeting get together on the terrace will have plenty of space for all to enjoy.

Essex Provincial Grand Lodge Annual Meeting
Thursday 30 May 2024
Chelmsford Race Course
Dear Brother Mark Master Mason,
Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Essex Annual Meeting ~ 30 May 2024
The Annual Meeting of the Essex Provincial Grand Lodge is to be held this year at a fabulous new venue right in the heart of Essex, The Chelmsford City Racecourse, Chelmsford, Essex. The day starts off with refreshments from 9.00am. The Installation of the new Provincial Grand Master, which is being conducted by the Pro Grand Master, M.W.Bro. John Herbert Prizeman commences at 11.00am, followed by the Installation of the new Deputy Provincial Grand Master and two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, a superb lunch follows at 1.00pm. Provincial Grand Lodge is re-convened at 3.00pm where the business of the Province is carried out along with the Investiture of our new acting officers, first appointments and promotions.
As your new Provincial Grand Master, I am keen to ensure as many as possible have the opportunity to attend the meeting and I therefore wish to extend my personal invitation to you. As a change from established practice once Provincial Grand Lodge is closed, you are all cordially invited to join myself and the executive on the Grand Terrace for a post meeting drink and get together at the fully stocked pay bar.
For clarity all Mark Master Masons subscribing to an Essex Lodge are entitled and are positively encouraged to attend; you do not have to be a Grand Officer, a Provincial Grand Officer, Master, or Past Master to be present.
The Annual General Meeting for our Province this year is in a different location and format to previous years, so if you are planning to attend, I urge you to read and familiarise yourself with the arrangements that are published as we approach the meeting date. You may attend one or both parts of the meeting and not dine, you may wish to dine and only attend the meeting in the afternoon that is your choice and whatever you choose I will be very pleased to see you attend.
If you attend you will be present to congratulate your fellow Brethren receiving honours on the day. I know the presence of friends and fellow Brethren adds so much to their day and reiterates one of the important tenets of our degree, brotherly love and reinforces our proud boast, that we are the friendly degree.
To those Mark Master Masons who are new to the Degree, you are particularly encouraged to attend; you will have plenty of opportunity to make new friends, meet and speak to senior members of the province and enjoy the spectacle of the day.
At the bottom of this page is the calling notice and booking form, I urge you to complete it and return it as soon as you can. Full details will be added: copies of the Summons and other documents and these will also be emailed to you for your personal use in the near future.
I take the opportunity to congratulate all of those whether attending or not, whom I will appoint to Provincial Grand Rank on the day, enjoy your new status and wear your regalia with pride.
Whilst the day will be tinged with a little sadness as R.W.Bro. Terry retires, I do look forward to your future support as we move forward into a new era, and it goes without saying that I look forward to having your company on the day.
With my very best wishes and fraternal regards,
