Essex M.M.M. Awareness Event
Saturday 14 October 23
Orsett Masonic Hall
Members of the Provincial Recruitment Team led by the Dep.P.G.M W.Bro John Finlay arrived early at Orsett Masonic Hall, and had the reception area and temple prepared before 9.00am. Essex Mark Men and several guests arrived for tea and registration at 9.00am, there was a great buzz and a fantastic atmosphere as the Mark Men, Recruitment Team and the guests mingled and chatted all things Masonry. The guests had also received a very professional welcome pack containing all the information they needed for the morning ahead and to assist them with their applications to join Essex Mark which, we all had great confidence would happen, such was the confidence in our presentation.
After a very tasty and comprehensive breakfast served by the Orsett caterers all present decamped upstairs to the Temple, which was laid out for a Mark meeting, the three stones were set on the Worshipful Masters pedestal in readiness for their part in the presentation. A mixture of members from the local Mark Lodges occupied the various offices with W.Bro David Awcock from Mayflower Mark occupying the Worshipful Masters Chair.

The Dep.P.G.M welcomed all to the presentation and handed over to our two presenters, W.Bro Roger Davis and a new presenter W.Bro John Drabble. The presentation is unique to Essex Mark, written by the Dep.P.G.M and contains much information on both the Mark Degree and Essex Mark, the content takes us through the history of the Degree, the relationship between the Craft, Holy Royal Arch, and the Mark degree, and explains how the Mark Degree is the true 4th regular step in Freemasonry.
The presentation is interspersed with a perambulation around the Temple by a Mark Master, W Bro Rob Whitfield leading a Mark Man, W. Bro Bob Lawman, around the lodge giving a comprehensive explanation how a Mark Man completes his journey to becoming a Mark Master Mason.

Aftet the presentation the Dep.P.G.M hosted a Q&A session and fielded many interesting questions. One question from a guest concerned the use of Masons Marks, the brother asked if it was possible to use his own Masons Mark if he joined as he was an operative stonemason and possessed his own unique mark The Dep.P.G.M gave a comprehensive answer with an explanation of how we use and construct our Marks, he also explained how the masonic cipher found in our Ritual book can decipher the Craft 3rd degree tracing board.
The presentation was concluded by midday, and with five applications for Advancement secured, and several further promises of putting the form in at a later date, everyone departed in harmony with many new friendships made. All in all, another successful and enjoyable Awareness event.
