Brian Heasman - 50 years a Mark Man and still going strong
The 25th of April 2024 saw the Provincial Grand Master make an official visit to Wyven Lodge as part of his farewell tour. He was accompanied by a good retinue of acting Provincial Officers.
The main purpose of the visit was to celebrate the Jubilee of V.W.Bro Brian Heasman, 50 years a Mark Man in Essex, no mean feat. Brian is a very highly decorated and respected member of nearly all the Companion Orders in Essex.
Brian was Advanced into Wyven Lodge of MMM No.1333 on Thursday 24th of April 1974.
Having progressed through the Chair, he received his first promotion in 1982 to the active rank of Provincial Grand Steward. Many appointments followed Including Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank. In 1990 Brian was promoted to the rank of P.Prov.G.J.W.
During this time Brian became the Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary, a post he held for 6 years. His flair for secretarial work served the Province well and Brian's obvious talents were a great help in the forming of Stilus Et Denarius, the Lodge specifically formed for Secretaries where he was a founding member and served as Worshipful Master between 2000 and 2001. He was also their Charity Steward for 3 years.
Whilst in his mother Lodge, Brian became the secretary, a post he remained in for 14 years, before deciding to have a break and become Assistant Secretary, but soon found himself drawn back into becoming the Secretary, a post he still holds to this day.

Brian has served as Junior and Senior Warden in the Essex Installed Masters Lodge.
In 1993 Brian was rewarded for his continued dedication to the Mark Degree by being promoted to the Grand Rank of P.A.G.Swd.B. 6 years later Brian received further promotion to P.G.J.D. In 2006 Brian was once again honoured to receive another promotion to P.G.J.O. making him a Very Worshipful Brother. Brian is also a holder of RAMGR.
In presenting Brian with his 50 year certificate the Provincial Grand Master outlined Brian's masonic career interspersed with snippets of news of the time to the delight of all assembled. Brian in his delightfully humble manner thanked the Prov.G.M for his attendance.
In the RAM meeting the Lodge presented the Prov.G.M with a cheque for £2000.00 as a donation to the 2030 festival. Whilst the Mark meeting culminated with the Lodge presenting the Prov.G.M with a further £5000.00 to the festival, a total of £7000.00, a truly wonderful donation and a fantastic way to celebrate V.W.Bro Brian's Jubilee meeting.
