Aurelius RAM and MMM Lodge No. 814 Installation Meetings.
The RAM Lodge was opened on time by the Worshipful Commander W.Bro. David Todd ( Essex Mark Media Manager) and with the Provincial Grand Master RW Bro Terrance D Sheern in attendance. He would normally be offered the Gavel, but David forgot to do this and the PGM used every opportunity to remind him of the error – in the nicest possible way.
With various Officers from the Lodge unable to attend, the local Lodges from the north were invited to assist and take on unfilled positions in both ceremonies, the input from the Lodge Officers and invited Officers was a credit to the Mark and RAM degrees and the two ceremonies were performed to a very high standard with the Worshipful Commander, David Todd being proclaimed for a further year and the Mark W. Master - Elect also being David Todd, he was always going to have a very full evening.
One highlight early on in the Mariner meeting was a mobile phone going off at the back of the hall, with a ring tone it is hard to believe would be used, which turned out to be W.Bro David’s phone, as you can imagine this went down well with everyone except David, and just to make it better the Junior Deacon carried it through the lodge to the Worshipful Commander rather than turn it off, these events are rarely recorded in the minutes but those in attendance will always remember them.
The Mark Degree started early and the installing Master W.Bro. Ken Headworth, installed David in very confident and efficient manner with an outstanding performance greatly appreciated by all. The duties of Chaplin being carried out by David’s father Brian, which must have been a proud moment for them both.
With the normal proceedings of the meeting over the PGM addressed the meeting and presented W.Bro. Ken Headworth with a fifty year certificate, which was now overdue, due to the Covid situation, and gave a history lesson not only on Ken’s achievements but also on what was happening fifty years ago. To have the certificate presented in such a nice way on a night when you have performed a ceremony so well highlighted Ken’s contribution to the Lodge and the affection the Lodge has for him was obvious.
The festive board was a real treat, good food and company and wine supplied but with yet another surprise for Ken Headworth, he had also completed 25 Years in RAM and the Lodge presented him with a cake to commemorate the event, He looked somewhat surprised and responded with well-chosen words.
Aurelius, Mark and RAM are set for a great year with David at the helm, one piece of advice would be, Leave your phone at home!!!!!
