Essex Enthroned Commanders & Essex Installed Mark Masters

Tuesday 19th of March saw 185 Royal Ark Mariners attend the largest RAM Lodge in the constitution for its annual meeting where the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. Terence D. Sheern bestows Provincial Rank on members of the Province.
Once the meeting had opened the Prov.G.M entered to much acclaim, where he proceeded to open an Assembly of Royal Ark Mariners with his Provincial Wardens taking up their respective positions.
This meeting was the Prov.G.M’s last meeting of the Enthroned Commanders Lodge before standing down.
Once he had invested the brethren with Provincial rank, he went onto address the assembled Brethren.
Once the meeting had opened the Prov.G.M entered to much acclaim, where he proceeded to open an Assembly of Royal Ark Mariners with his Provincial Wardens taking up their respective positions.
This meeting was the Prov.G.M’s last meeting of the Enthroned Commanders Lodge before standing down.
Once he had invested the brethren with Provincial rank, he went onto address the assembled Brethren.
He then closed the Assembly and the normal Lodge business continued with the Commander for the ensuing year being named as W.Bro. Geoff Newman.
The Lodge was then closed and after a short “comfort” break, the Temple was set up ready for the Installed Masters Lodge meeting.
The meeting was opened with over 200 Mark Men in attendance for what promised to be a memorable meeting.
This meeting saw W.Bro. Pierre Waddoups presented to the Installing Master Sidney Philpin by his Son Geoff (Lodge A.D.C) with the words “I present to you W.Bro. Pierre Waddoups “My Dad” the Master Elect….
The Installation Ceremony was carried out by Sid in fine form.
Once the Ceremony was completed the normal business of the Lodge was carried out. The Provincial Grand Master addressed the brethren, and went onto to present the following M.B.F Diamond awards to :-
The Easterford Lodge (collected by their Master, Mark Lawrence)
and Personal awards to:
W.Bro. John Stannard Asst.Prov.G.M
W.Bro. Peter Maloney Prov.Ch.Stwd
W.Bro. David Todd
The Prov.G.M took great delight in presenting Pete with his as Pete has a tendency not to wear his awards.
The Prov.G.M then went on to inform the Brethren that the Province now has 11 Diamond Lodges and 7 personal honorific holders.
He then informed those present that the Lodge had donated the sum of £1000 towards the 2030 Festival and £500 to David Lambert’s Hadrian’s Wall Walk.
He then presented the original Travelling Maul to the Master and hoped that it would be used at the P.G.L meeting in May as well as the two smaller mauls for the Wardens.
He then, by kind permission of W.Bro. John Finlay Prov.G.M Designate to name Johns new Executive that will be invested in May.
They will be as Deputy Provincial Grand Master: Richard Goodwin and as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master Geoff Newman. Both of these appointments were met with great acclaim.
R.W.Bro. Terence D. Sheern thanked everyone for the support that he has received during his time as Prov.G.M.
The Lodge was closed in due form and the Brethren retired to the bar for some refreshments before the Festive Board.
The festive Board was a very lively and friendly event.
W.Bro. Paul Firmin won a Terry’s Easter Egg in the raffle, which he very kindly donated to the Prov.G.M as it had his name on.

The formal festivities being completed the Provincial Director of Ceremonies informed the Brethren that the Media Team had prepared a fitting tribute to the Prov.G.M in the form of a video.
