Essex Enthroned Commanders & Essex Installed Mark Masters No. 1044.
Saxon Hall
Tuesday 21 March 2023
Tuesday 21 March saw both the above Lodges meet at Saxon Hall. The March meeting of the Enthroned Commanders’ Lodge was to see the Provincial Grand Master open a Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Assembly so as to confer Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank on this year’s recipients. (The list of brethren appointed is available on the link at the bottom of the page.)
By formally holding the Assembly, the Prov.G.M. feels that it adds gravitas to the event and, since the meeting is held at the largest Essex centre with the largest attendance of an Essex Lodge meeting, it allows for a significant audience to congratulate the recipients. This year was no exception with numbers broadly back to “normal” levels.

The Mark Meeting, held immediately afterwards, was the regular Installation Meeting with the well-known, and well liked, W.Bro. Sid Philpin being Installed as the new Master. As the Prov.G.M. reminded us, whilst congratulating both the incoming and Installing Master, the Mark Masters’ Lodge is the largest Mark Lodge in the entire Constitution of the G.L.M.M.M. which is an indication of the Order’s strength and popularity in Essex. Thus to hold office in it, or to be the Master of it, is a significant honour. Installed Masters who are not yet members are strongly encouraged to join this prestigious Lodge (and similarly for the Enthroned Commanders).
The Prov.G.M. took the opportunity to update the Brethren present with a brief address, the contents of which are available on the below link.
The next meeting of the two Lodges is on 14 September, 2023 at Saxon Hall.
