Beaconsfield Lodge of Mark Masters No.205
1 February 2023
Saxon Hall
The Beaconsfield Lodge of Mark Masters, No 205 held its Installation Meeting on Wednesday 1 February 2023 at Saxon Hall, Southend on Sea. The Lodge was honoured to receive the Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Terence Sheern, to its meeting along with, as usual, an impressive number of Acting Provincial Grand Officers from across the Province.
The Mark Lodge saw W.Bro. Martyn Pinckney, the Installing Master, place W.Bro. Michael West, Grand Steward, in the Master's Chair for his second time around in an exemplary manner and subsequently the relevant addresses were delivered most impressively, and the Officers of the Lodge appointed and invested.
Beaconsfield, like so many other Lodges, is recovering post Covid with candidates in the pipeline but still strategically placing P.M.s in key roles to ensure newer and younger brethren are not forced too far too fast.
The Worshipful Master was also delighted to be able to also present a cheque to the Prov.G.M. for £1,000 in support of our 2030 M.B.F. Festival a charity which does so much in support of those in need.
For those present who (had noticed) and wondered why the Prov.G.M. had not retired at his usual point, the answer soon became clear.
Taking the time and opportunity to thank both W.Bro. Rob Sandy (who is to be appointed Prov. G.S.W. later this year) and Bro. Mike Pearsons (current Lodge Treasurer), for their hard work and long hours of dedication in bringing Lodge finances and accounts back to proper form after the resignation of the former Treasurer; the Prov.G.M. announced that, as a lay brother, it was right and fitting that Bro. Pearsons received some public recognition for his efforts. To that end, the Prov.G.M. was delighted to offer Bro. Mike a field promotion to the Rank of Past Provincial Grand Steward! This, well deserved, honour was warmly received by a completely surprised, and delighted (and somewhat overcome), Mike Pearsons and to the appreciation of all his Lodge Brethren. We look forward to our next meeting where Mike can proudly wear his new regalia and sit down for one more toast than he usually does!
The Royal Ark Mariner Lodge, having met before the Mark, was also pleased to Elevate Bro. Gurmit Chana Singh, a member of the Beaconsfield Mark Lodge in a real team effort with the work shared with members both "new and old".
All in all, an excellent evening, topped off by a fine festive board and a small presentation to the Prov.G.M. by the W.M. of a bottle of good vodka and a box of chocolates just to ensure that the Prov.G.M didn't have to worry about "getting lucky" with the raffle.
Finally, said W.Bro. West, W.M. to our "roving reporter": "Brethren, to those of you that still have Craft and Royal Arch friends who have yet to experience the "magic of the Mark" do not forget to make them aware of our Awareness Events and introduce them to our website and social media pages so that they, too, may enjoy our "Friendly" Degree.
