Essex Mark attends the Sussex MBF Festival
Saturday the 6th of July saw both our Deputy PGM, V.W.Bro. Richard Bowyer, and APGM, V.W.Bro. Tony Latham. together with both of their wives. travel to Brighton to attend the One Hundred & Fifty First Mark Benevolent Fund Festival and held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Brighton, and hosted by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Sussex.
A full weekend had been arranged by the hosting Province which started with a Champagne reception on the Friday evening, with a get to know you theme at the reception event. Some had also arranged meals at local restaurants which everyone found to be very enjoyable.
After breakfast on the Saturday morning, excursions had been arranged to the Royal Pavilion and the British Airways i360 viewing area, (a 162-metre observation tower on the seafront of Brighton) . After some gentle relaxation in the afternoon, a
magnificent total of 930 Mark Masons together with with their wives or partners attended the Festival Dinner, which was enjoyed by all, and included some wonderful and well-presented food.
After copious amounts of wine and good table banter, the Grand Secretary, R.W. Bro. Ryan Williams, announced the total of £1,352,563 raised by the Sussex Province of Mark Master Masons. A superb effort by the Province of Sussex (which included monies from Essex via the purchasing of Festival Jewels and one off donations); after the speeches, all were entertained by Take 5 a very competent band and festivities from the pier, which included Dodgems, Ice Cream, Candy Floss, Pick and Mix sweets, and many other interesting side shows. A very good evening which seemed to be enjoyed by all.
The baton has now been passed on to our neighbours, The Mark Province of Kent with the 152nd Festival to be held on Saturday 13th June, 2020 with details available on their website.
