Essex Armed Forces Lodge No.2016 Installation Meeting.
Essex Armed Forces Lodge held their 1st Birthday meeting (albeit delayed due to Covid-19) on Tuesday, 5th of October at St.Giles Masonic Centre, Colchester. The meeting commenced at 1630 zulu (4:30 pm to non military types).
The Lodge was honoured by the presence of the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Terence D. Sheern, who although an Honorary member of the Lodge was there in an official capacity.
The Provincial Grand Master, escorted by his Director of Ceremonies W.Bro. Michael J. West and accompanied by his Active Officers received a very warm welcome from the members of the Lodge along with their guests.
Once the initial business of the Lodge was completed the Worshipful Master, Bill Dyer, went onto Install Brother Alan Fitz-John as the new master.
The Address to the Master was carried out by the ProvGDC, W.Bro. Michael West, with the Address to the Wardens by
W.Bro. Bill Fraser, MBE, the Overseers by W.Bro. Ray McKerron and the Brethren by R.W.Bro. Eddy Garty who, along with being a Lodge member is also the PGM for Middlesex.
The Lodge should be known as "The Press Gang Lodge" as several Brethren found themselves "volunteering" to take on several roles, especially our guest Tyler who found himself voted and accepted as our full time Tyler, which was a nice surprise for him! Thanks Paul...
Once the Installation Ceremony was completed, the Provincial Grand Master presented the Lodge with an MBF Gold Paron's collarette, and thanked them for all their hard work for the MBF and hoped that they would continue to support the Province and MBF, especially pleasing from such a young Lodge.
Once the meeting was closed the members of the Lodge with guests retired to the bar for "a wet" or two before the Festive Board, which proved to be a lively affair as is tradition for the Lodge.
The Provincial Grand Master and W.M. Alan Fitz-John have a long and personal friendship going back many years when they were in the Police Force at the same station in Grays Division together.
The Lodge is looking forward to its next meeting in March, when they will have an Advancement. You don't have to be ex military to attend their meetings as they make all guests most welcome..
