As many people are now aware, we are working towards our MBF Festival Essex 2030 celebrations and over the next 8 years we will be fund raising for this event. There will be many events taking place and details of these will be coming out during the year of what, when, where and how Essex Mark Masons can get involved and help support the Province.
During this time we will be starting an initiative to link all our Mark Lodges together with the aid of a ‘Travelling Maul’ which was crafted by W.Bro. Jeff Bennett and donated for this purpose. It will travel the Province in its presentation box displaying the names and numbers of all the Essex Mark Lodges. The maul will be presented to the WM at the start of each meeting and used throughout.
The Travelling Maul will start its journey at the oldest Mark Lodge Constantine No.145 on the 18th January 2022 and after travelling the Essex Province finish back with them in April 2030. They will then present the Travelling Maul to the PGM of Essex of the time at the Festival weekend celebrations in July 2030.
The plan is for all Mark Lodges to receive the Travelling Maul in as best as possible ascending number order working through to the newest Mark Lodge. A delegation of members from the receiving Mark Lodge would then visit the next Mark Lodge in rotation and present the Travelling Maul to that WM. This will continue until all Mark Lodges have received the Travelling Maul.
An order of Mark Lodges receiving the Travelling Maul has been produced (see below) and all lodges will be notified when they will expect to receive it and who the following lodge will be. To help pay towards the production costs and to contribute to the 2030 Festival all we would ask is that a pot be circulated during the festive board after the meeting to collect any donations and loose change. A Mark Lodge may present a further donation if they wish but it is optional.
It is hoped that we will get full support of all Mark Lodges in the Essex Province to make this idea a success, and to make sure that when it is your turn you both receive and present the Travelling Maul as a special occasion for that meeting.
