Northern Star Lodge of Mark Master Masons, No. 2012
Meeting of the 13th November.
Saturday, 13th November, saw the Northern Star Lodge honoured by a visit from Right Worshipful Brother Terence Douglas Sheern, Provincial Grand Master, this being his second visit to the Lodge since it was consecrated by him in 2019.
As is usual with this unique Lodge, a fried Breakfast was taken first, heralded by the Master processing in, attired in a dressing gown and with a sleepy, "faraway look", and leading the Wardens all with “Wee Willie Winkie” candle-holders with a lighted candle to set the mood of the meal.
The breakfast then had a more usual form with the usual toasts – albeit using tea, coffee, or fruit juices as it was too early for the "usual liquids" - and a well supported raffle, before the Brethren moved upstairs in the Frinton and Walton Masonic Hall where the Lodge was opened.
Following a report, W.Bro. Michael J. West, Prov. G.D.C., was admitted announcing that the Prov.G.M was outside the door of the Lodge and demanded admission. A retinue of Provincial Officers then entered the Lodge escorting the Prov.G.M who took the Chair to first introduce the Provincial Officers. He then proceeded to dedicate the new Lodge Bible, presented by the Junior Warden, W.Bro. Andy Slyvester, and after its dedication it was paraded around the Lodge before taking up its rightful place on the Master's Pedestal. This part of the proceedings concluded with an address on the significance of the Bible in our Lodges by the Prov.Dep.G.Chaplain, W.Bro. Gordon McClean.
The Prov. G.M. then invited the Worshipful Master, W.Bro John Stannard, to resume his Chair. He then proceeded with the business of the Lodge, the main item being the Installation of his successor, W.Bro. Paul Firmin who, after an excellent ceremony, proceeded to appoint and invest his Officers for the year, all done in an excellent manner.
Subsequently, several items more were presented to the Lodge in the form of a Ballet box, and an Honours board, both of which were made and presented by W.Bro. Robin Morley, and a set of stones by W.Bro. John Stannard. These similar to those presented earlier in the week by Northern Star Lodge to the new Southern Star Lodge, the box for both having been made by W.Bro Robin Morley.
The meeting concluded late in the morning with Brethren and visitors saying how much they had enjoyed the Ceremony and of course the breakfast.
