PGL 22 - MBF President's Address
I'm grateful to your Prov.G.M. for allowing me to take up valuable time during your A.G.M. to give some details of the new Stewardship Scheme
This scheme was launched only 12 months ago with the Province of Surrey being the first Province to have them. I can tell you that we have now sold 675 Surrey jewels so far; we have run out and have more on order so it is popular with the Brethren. To date we have raised over £200,000 across the 8 Provinces in Festival. Your festival is in 2030 so the sooner you take a Jewel and proudly wear it the more other Brethren will be dazzled by it and join you in buying one. Whilst they are not cheap at £100 they are not expensive when you take into account that you can wear them for the next 8 years which means in real terms just over 3p a day, what a small price to pay, not only to support your Prov.G.M. but also to raise the profile of the MBF even higher in Essex.
If you're an existing patron of the MBF the £100 pounds will count towards your next level of patronage if you have not as yet started on your patronage journey I do have an offer that you cannot refuse. The first level is the Life Governor which costs £100, for this you get an attractive breast Jewel and I just happened to have some with me, if you buy this first it will cost you another £100 to buy your Stewards Jewel, but you do not want to do that do it that way because if you buy the Stewards Jewel first, that counts towards your first level which means you get the Life Governors free, no brainer really 2 for one, and of course with the Steward Jewell you also get the year bar and a very attractive pocket pad to mount it on. Of course if you want to jump straight to a vice patron I also have other Jewels and Vice Patron collarettes with me, just ask me.
There are forms on your chairs so if you're interested please fill them in do not worry if you're not sure of some of the difficult questions like what is your MMH number or your address etc. to make it simple just put down your name and lodge number and I will do the rest. You will need to put on the top of the form either the 1st time Patron or existing Patron so that I can give you the correct package and of course put your payment method in and if eligible sign the Gift Aid section as this also counts towards your honorifics. PLEASE PLEASE if you are not going to sign up take the form with you, you might change your mind also it means that I have not wasted my time and money in printing them and of course the staff do not want to waste time going around picking them up.
I will be sat at the sales desk outside the dining room after the meeting so please have your forms ready, I have only brought 100 Jewels with me so be quick before I run out, I also have a good supply of the Life Governors jewels as well so nobody should be disappointed. Please give it some serious thought.
Whilst the thrust of my talk has been directed at the Brethren of Essex I would also ask the out of Providence Brethren to consider supporting this Province by buying one of the Stewards Jewels, after all your Providence will at some time have a festival and I'm sure that you will want other provinces to support you. We are after all the friendly degree.
In conclusion let me make this promise, if you buy a Jewel today I will not try to sell you a jewel for the for your following festival which will be in 2068. That's got to be worth consideration.
Not finished yet...
Heads and Tails.
We are slowly getting back to normality and to prove it today with your coffee you will have the opportunity to try a slice of Jerry Gangadeens famous Caribbean Rum Cake, Jerry take a bow, now to support your festival he has also brought down a huge rum cake that will feed a family of 6 for a year which we will heads and tails after the coffee, as it's a specially large cake it's £2 ago or £5 for a Mulligan, it's for a very special event in the history of the Province so please give it a go.
Stewards will pass amongst you during the dinner to collect the money and the total raised will be announced later.
I thank you for your generosity in advance.
