Kanchans Curry Night
Be careful, what looks like a green bean is not a bean at all!
In the evening of Wednesday 15th December, 54 Mark Men, their family and friends joined together at ‘Kanchans’ Restaurant in Gants Hill for an evening of food and fundraising to support the Essex Mark Benevolent Fund Festival in 2030.
The evening was organised and hosted by W.Bro. Ranjit Bhogal. The attendees were an eclectic group ranging in age from 9 months to 79 years and they all stayed awake for the duration of the evening. There was also a birthday celebration, with Arvin Chauhan, who was coy on his age, but suggested that he doesn’t look more than 45!
The magnificent banquet was enjoyed by all and no one went hungry but left feeling satisfied, even the member of Crowstone Mark No. 945 who mistook a long green vegetable in his salad for a green bean. He quickly realised his mistake and was refreshed with mango juice and a lovely yoghurt dish which helped to calm him down.
As everyone was relaxing after the meal, they were treated to a raffle with over 20 prizes all of which were generously donated. The money from the raffle and from the tickets helped to raise £710 towards the Essex MBF 2030 festival.
Ranjit summed up the evening by thanking everyone for their friendship, their charity and emphasising that the Mark degree is the truly friendly degree, by bringing everyone together and to the enjoyment of all.
