Membership of this prestigious dining club is open to any Essex Mark Mason who has achieved Grand Diamond patronage of the Mark Benevolent Fund (MBF).
The original Diamond Geezers club was formed in the Mark Province of London by the then PGM R.W. Bro David Ashbolt, as a way to encourage Brethren to give to tbe MBF on a regular basis. David is still a fantastic advocate for the MBF.
The club meets for a fantastic lunch twice a year (June and December) and has its own very unique tie. The venue is Mark Masons Hall in St James’ London, and lunch is served in the wonderful private dining room on the first floor. There are no other costs to join the club once you qualify, other than the cost of your lunch.

Individual Donations are very easy for a Brother to make. Either a donation direct to the Fund at Mark Masons’ Hall, but as our own Province is in Festival, your donations should be via our Provincial Grand Charity Steward, whose details you will find on this page. Any sum above a minimum of £10 will be credited and will be aggregated towards a fund qualification. The appropriate jewel or collarette will be issued when a qualification is achieved.
Monies raised by yourselves from charity events can be added to your individual honorifics. You should send the funds to our Provincial Grand Charity Steward who will submit them to the MBF in your name.
There are six patronage levels each with its own award.
- Life Governor £100
- Vice-Patron £250
- Patron £500
- Grand Patron £1000
- Grand Patron Gold £2500
- Grand Patron Diamond £5000.00.
As you can see from the above there is no need for the full £5000.00 to be paid at once, donations can be made over a number of years. Many brethren find it simpler to take out a regular giving covenant. Once each level is achieved, the MBF automatically sends out the awards via the Province. The P.G.M then usually presents these awards at our Installed Masters Lodge (1044) or in the recipients own lodge.
Once you achieve Grand Diamond Patron status, the club President, R.W.Bro Terry Sheern Past Provincial Grand Master of Essex will invite you to join the club.
Any questions you may have should be directed to the Provincial Grand Charity Steward, W.Bro Peter Maloney.
Message from the Prov.G.M.Brethren, having our own ‘Diamond Geezers’ club in Essex is a major achievement for the Province, simply by having enough generous brethren to make it viable. It also shows the kind and generous nature of our members. I am also aware that we have many other members who have achieved all levels of patronage of the MBF and are well on their way to achieving the Grand Diamond patronage.
As we are in Festival it is important that we collectively make every effort to support the Province in its endeavours. As one of the largest Mark Provinces in the constitution we owe it to ourselves to make our Festival better than all previous. As individuals achieving the Grand Patron Diamond award is one of the best ways to show your commitment, and gives you the opportunity to become a ‘Diamond Geezer’.
