Essex Enthroned Commanders & Essex Installed Mark Masters
Lodge No. 1044
Saxon Hall
Thursday 12 September 2024
Thursday 12 September 2024 saw 135 Essex Mark and RAM men attend the meetings of Essex Enthroned Commanders and Essex Installed Masters Lodges held at Saxon Hall.
The RAM meeting was held first and saw a procession of all of the Lodge Officers into the Temple before taking up their respective roles.
This was carried out under the watchful eye of the Provincial Grand Master, RW.Bro. John Finlay, a former Provincial Director of Ceremonies. It was very impressive to behold, and congratulations to the Lodge Director of Ceremonies W.Bro. Phil Richardson and his Assistant Director of Ceremonies W.Bro. Geoff Waddoups. |
The meeting saw the Installation of a very well-known and highly respected Mark Man, Worshipful Brother Charles White. Unfortunately, the Installing Commander was unable to attend, so the man of many talents Worshipful Brother Len Abraham's stepped up to perform a faultless ceremony.
With the meeting finished, the Temple was then set up for the Installed Masters Lodge, which was opened in fine form by Worshipful Brother Pierre Waddoups.
The Travelling Maul was presented to him by Worshipful Brother Gordon MacLean, Worshipful Master of Fillebrook Lodge, accompanied by Worshipful Brother Roy Kaye. |
The main event of the meeting was an explanation the Mark Benevolent Fund by the Provincial Grand Master, followed by the presentation of 23 collarettes to members of the Province.
The Provincial Grand Master thanked everyone for their support of the M.B.F. and hoped that their support would continue. The Lodge Charity Steward, Worshipful Brother Peter Maloney who is also the Provincial Charity Steward further explained the honorifics system.
This was followed by a “demonstration” explanation of the Mark Advancement ceremony which, as explained by the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Worshipful Brother John Stannard will hopefully be presented in the Provincial Craft Lodges when invited, and to encourage Craft members to join the Mark Degree.
With the meeting finished, everyone retired to the Festive Board, which was presided over by Worshipful Brother Charles White.
Worshipful Brother Charles gave a very emotional address to the Provincial Grand Master and presented him with the customary box of chocolates, continuing with the tradition set by his predecessor Right Worshipful Brother Terry Sheern.
Charles also presented him with a bouquet of flowers for his wife for "allowing him out to play".

In response the Provincial Grand Master thanked Charles and everyone for attending his first meeting as their Provincial Grand Master and hoped that everyone enjoyed both meetings and they would encourage their members to support the M.B.F and our festival.
He continued by informing everyone that it was Worshipful Brother David Todd’s birthday, and that it would be nice for everyone to sing "happy birthday" to him.
David is our Media manager and normally shy's away from the limelight.
