Saturday afternoon saw our presentation team taking the floor at the Albert Lucking Craft Lodge meeting at Saxon Hall.
Once the Lodge had been called off, they speedily set up the Temple in the form of a Mark Lodge with three volunteers occupying the Overseers’ positions, and the axe prominently in place! Our Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. John Stannard gave a brief introduction before the two presenters, W.Bro's. David Wilson and Roger Davis enthralled their audience, describing what the Mark Degree was about and why a Mason should enrich their masonic journey by becoming a Mark Master Mason. |
They went on to explain where the Order stood within the whole Solomonic story and its unique selling point of being known as “The Friendly Degree”. W.Bro. Andy Hastings accompanied by Bro. Bob Lawman then perambulated round dressed as quarrymen and developed the tale as conductor and novice, before handing back to our presenters to conclude a most professional performance.
Numerous questions and answers then ensued culminating in two Craft Brethren asking for further information on our Order. In appreciation of the team’s efforts the Worshipful Master then made a most generous donation of £250.00 which will be credited to the forthcoming Zipwire Challenge and accordingly form a Craft Contribution to our Festival 2030. At the Festive board it was revealed that one of the other guests was W. Bro. Chris Jones who had interrupted his epic two-year fundraising walk around Britain to raise money to sustain the MCF’s charity’s mental health work. He said specifically how very much he had enjoyed the Essex Province Mark degree presentation and resolved to join the Degree as soon as he reached home in Lincolnshire. What an accolade for our team – well done lads!
